W Osaka was designed around the theme of 'the playful spirit of Osaka merchants'. The design was inspired by an episode in the Edo period when merchants, forbidden from being extravagant, enjoyed using fancy linings for the lining of their black haori.
The exterior of the jet-black high-rise building, which rises like a single rock, was supervised by ANDO Tadao, a world-renowned architect from Osaka. The brightly coloured interior and design is by Concrete Architectural Associates of Amsterdam, the Netherlands, which is responsible for the W brand around the world. The entrance is followed by an Arrival Tunnel with 3,000 origami-inspired plate lights that change color with the seasons, inviting you into an extraordinary world.
The social hub (lobby lounge) LIVING ROOM, called the "heart of W", has a unique and playful interior with lighting inspired by the neon streets of Dotonbori, colourful sofas, a MANZAI stage inspired by Osaka culture, and a bar counter with a large lampshade resembling a chochin and a bottle motif. The interior design is full of playfulness and uniqueness everywhere, including the bar counter with a large lampshade and an objet d'art in the form of an Ippon bottle motif. The brightly coloured and boldly designed rooms also offer panoramic views of Osaka from the full-length windows.

Teppanyaki restaurant MYDO, located on the first floor of W Osaka, is a unique teppanyaki restaurant where you can enjoy dining in three areas: 'FUN', which focuses on 'konamon', 'LUXE', where you can enjoy creative cuisine using premium ingredients, and 'KAPPO', which brings a taste of teppan to kappo cuisine. KAPPO is a unique teppanyaki restaurant where you can enjoy your meal in three different areas. The interior is designed by globally renowned interior designer MORITA Yasumichi, with energetic artwork by painter and illustrator KURODA Seitaro.
Note that in Osaka America-mura, an 11-minute walk from the hotel, there is the public art "PEACE ON EARTH", created by Kuroda. It is well-known as the symbolic mural of America-mura, and is also worth enjoying.
"The Extreme WOW Penthouse Suite" is also located on the hotel's uppermost 27th floor. This bedroom features artwork by Dutch textile artist Sigrid Kallon, whose work is also in the collection of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York.
